Frugal Friday

I hope to edit in a picture later, but my one camera is on the fritz and a new one should be here tomorrow… yeah! (Oh, the horror of being without a camera!)

Anyway, my Frugal Friday idea this week is recycling egg cartons. These make great organizers. I have a couple I use for jewelry. They keep necklaces separated and earrings matched up. And, then you can stack them to save space. You can also use them to catch your loose change or organize your beads or buttons at your craft table. Again, you can stack them. Use them in your desk drawer to organize paper clips, rubber bands, push pins, chalk, staples, etc. The kids can keep their little Lego piece organized too!  Once again, you can stack them!

What are your frugal favorites?

  1. Posting for my mother-in-law: "I save plastic containers - all sizes from yogurt, to small butter, medium soft oleo, cool whip bowls to ice cream buckets. They are handy for when you make a big kettle of soups to freeze one serving, two servings, to family size - Ice cream buckets for sloppy joes or chile for the bloodmobile or farm sales or even stands at County Fairs. The guys like the cool whip bowls for puppy food pots - Norb thinks that is pretty important, you know.
I don't know if BJ remembers how I used to save parts or wheels of broken toys, just in case we could possibly use them sometime to repair other toys. Maybe I even gave him a box of them - I know I gave them away.
Then there's twisties - Jill thought it was funny I was saving them - there's lots of uses for them. Wonder if she remembers when their kids were opening birthday gifts, I was collecting the nice long ones - they are neatly hung on a nail in my garage now!!"

  2. Posting for a dear aunt, Elaine: "When sending a package and have the right size box but it has too much print on the outside, I carefully take it apart and put it together again...inside out. Viola! A nice clean box for mailing!! The packaging tape is so good and handy now that taping it together again makes it just as strong as new." Thanks! (and, I'm sure this is approved from her retired postmaster husband!)
